Dipa Karmakar is one of the very few Indian athletes today who probably does not need much introduction. She has become a household name owing to her successes and her fan following has no age barrier. Even an average kid in India might know that she is only the fifth woman ever to successfully land the risky Produnova vault. But there is one thing that not a lot of people know about Dipa - she was born with flat feet, a physical feature that is not suitable for a gymnast; as it affects their jumps and landing. To help her overcome this weakness, she has been coached by Bishweshwar Nandi for the past 18 years who is extremely strict with her, something that Dipa credits for her success.
