Rifle Shooter Anjum Moudgil Bags A Silver Medal At The 2018 Commonwealth Games

Competing in her maiden Commonwealth Games, Anjum bounced back from the shock result of the day before to win a silver medal in today’s Women’s 50m Rifle 3 Position event with a final score of 455.7.

After her medal, Anjum said, “I am extremely happy to win a medal for my country today. Winning a bronze medal at the Commonwealth Championships and a silver medal at the ISSF World Cup in Mexico, gave me a lot of confidence and belief going into the Games.”

Veteran Indian shooter Tejaswini Sawant also won the gold medal in Anjum’s event, creating a Commonwealth Games record in the finals.

Indian coach Deepali Deshpande added, “I am very happy for both of them. We witnessed some great shooting skills from both Tejaswini and Anjum today, especially Anjum. The way she came back after yesterday’s setback at the 50m Prone event shows how mentally strong she is. I’m very proud of her!”

Anjum had qualified for the finals of her event in first place with a Commonwealth Games record for the qualifiers. GoSports Foundation has been supporting her with her nutritional requirements, apparel, equipment, and travel expenses for competitions and training.
